ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING
COMMUNITY EDITION
Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events
Awareness. Preparation. Purposeful Action When It Matters Most.
An emergency can unfold without warning. Thinking through your options beforehand can help you respond with greater purpose during a frightening situation.
Developed by 1st Source Defense, LLC, this training helps community members, workplaces, schools, and organizations strengthen civilian preparedness. Participants explore how stress can affect their reactions, why recognizing danger may take time, and how planning and practice can support informed decisions.
Through guided discussion, participants consider the places where they work, learn, and gather—identifying exits, exploring available safety options, and thinking through how to communicate with others. The program also addresses what to expect from arriving emergency responders, the importance of following their directions, and the emotional support people may need after an incident.
Real incidents are discussed with care, and participants receive advance notice before sensitive material is presented.
