What does effective leadership look like inside a police agency—and to the people it serves? Policing Through Leadership gives chiefs and law enforcement leaders space to examine that question through discussion, reflection, and practical scenarios.
The course explores character and professionalism, ethical decision-making, supervision, accountability, and the ways agency culture influences staff. Participants consider how to mentor personnel, communicate expectations, and create opportunities for people within the agency to contribute and grow.
Leadership also extends beyond the department. The program examines fair and inclusive practices, community policing, transparency, and partnerships with residents and local organizations. Tabletop discussions ask participants to apply what they have learned to challenges they may face as leaders.
