GANG AWARENESS & PREVENTION
Gang Awareness and Prevention Program
Service Description
The Gang Awareness and Prevention Program (G.A.P.P.) supports young people through education, mentoring, and community involvement. Designed for youth with a range of experiences and needs, it gives families and community partners a way to address challenges early and help participants build a more positive path forward. Every young person deserves to be seen for more than a difficult moment. The Gang Awareness and Prevention Program, or G.A.P.P., brings youth, families, and community partners together to address challenges and strengthen the support around each participant. The program draws on mentoring, restorative approaches, school engagement, and community service. It may be relevant to youth facing attendance or behavioral challenges, family transitions, or a return home after time in a juvenile facility. It is also intended to welcome young people who would benefit from guidance and opportunities to use their strengths. 1st Source Defense, LLC works with parents and community groups and welcomes conversations with courts, probation teams, and other youth-serving partners about possible referrals. When a referral arrangement is established, the program’s intake and progress updates can help the people supporting a participant stay informed. For law enforcement, the program can be utilized in schools as a part of the officers' support in educational instruction. Help create another opportunity for a young person. Contact us to discuss G.A.P.P. for your family, organization, or community partnership.
